Australia Test Squad vs England Announced for 5th Ashes 2026

Australia has announced its squad for the fifth and final Ashes Test against England, which is all set to be played at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 04, 2025.

Australia has announced its squad for the fifth and final Ashes Test against England, which is all set to be played at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 04, 2025. Australia has already secured the Ashes 2025-26 after winning the first three tests, and they will be looking to finish with a 4-1 and remain the top team in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Standings.

Steve Smith will be leading the Australian side in Sydney after Cummins ruled out of the final two tests. Australia has decided to stick with the same squad that featured in the AUS vs ENG 4th Test. However, it’s going to be a crucial match for both teams to improve their position in the ICC WTC 2025-2027 Rankings.

Jake Weatherald and Travis Head are expected to open in the AUS vs ENG 5th test in Sydney. Usman Khawaja also retained his position in the squad despite the speculation of dropping out of the fifth test. Khawaja is also expected to be part of Australia’s Playing XI.

Cameron Green’s Place in Playing XI under question:

Australia’s young star all-rounder Cameron Green remains doubtful for the Playing XI in Sydney. Green has struggled in the Ashes 2025-26; he was able to score just 112 runs in six innings and took only three wickets.

Beau Webster is likely to replace Cameron Green for the AUS vs ENG 5th test. Webster has impressed everyone with his performance in the debut match earlier this series.
