Ajinkya Rahane ruled out of the IPL 2022, doubtful for the England tour: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) senior opener Ajinkya Rahane has reportedly been ruled out of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season fifteen after suffering a hamstring injury. The reports suggested that Rahane pulled his hamstring during his team’s last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 14.

Rahane didn’t leave the field during his batting even though he was clearly struggling to run between the wickets, the right-handed batter didn’t return to the field in the second innings. He was taken for scans which later revealed a grade 3 tear to his hamstring.

The senior Indian batter will now head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore to undergo his rehabilitation program. The experts reckon Ajinkya Rahane would require at least four weeks times to recover from his injury.

This makes Rahane doubtful for India’s tour of England, starting July 1. India and England will lock horns for the fifth rescheduled test match at Edgbaston on July 1. The Indian contingent is expected to board a flight for the United Kingdom on July 16.

Notably, Rahane was dropped from India’s longest format squad against Sri Lanka due to his poor form. His comeback to the Indian whites has come under serious scanner following an injury.

Aaron Finch to step in for Ajinkya Rahane:

Rahane’s unavailability in the Kolkata Knight Riders playing xi may create a slight disbalance. Though Rahane hasn’t been in a great form in the Indian Premier League, he has rightly complimented the other batters to keep ticking the scoreboard.

KKR will bring in Aussie opener Aaron Finch to fill the shoes of Ajinkya Rahane in the team for their last league stage match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
