MI vs GT: Warning for Rohit and Mumbai against THESE star GT Players: Mumbai Indians (MI) have inked a tremendous comeback in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although they are generally known as slow starters, the season looked pale for them at the start of the tournament as they were down with a couple of big injury concerns. However, despite that MI has managed to reach the final phase of the IPL 2023.
MI will face Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 26th May in Qualifier 2. Ahead of the clash, MI would be wary of the challenges they are going to face as they lock horns against GT.
The star-studded side, Gujarat Titans has match-winners in multiple ranks. Their bowling has emerged as their biggest strength with Mohammad Shami and Rashid Khan being the top performers so far. The two aforementioned players are top two in the list of the highest wicket-takers in IPL 2023.
While Mohammad Shami is the purple cap holder with 26 wickets from 15 innings, Rashid Khan stands in second spot with 25 scalps in same number of innings as Shami’s.
Former team India and Mumbai Indians cricketer Harbhajan Singh warned Rohit Sharma and Co of the possible threat of Shami, who is in an excellent form of late.
He said: “Mohammed Shami is a bowler every team looks to have. He’s a good new-ball bowler. He nails quick yorkers in the death overs. He has a brilliant seam position and becomes an unplayable bowler when there’s swing.”
The renowned commentator also talked about Rashid Khan and his 360 degree challenge to MI. Harbhajan Singh said: “Rashid Khan is a player from a different league. He’s picking up wickets in heaps, he’s scoring runs, he’s a gun fielder, and he lead GT whenever captain Hardik wasn’t available. He’s done everything and excelled. GT are exceptionally lucky to have a player like Rashid in their ranks.”
MI vs GT Qualifier 2
Five times IPL champion MI have peaked at a right time. They have won four of their last five matches and will be high on confidence after comprehensively thumping Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator, earlier this week.
Moreover, their bowling which was their weakest link has now started to show character. The new ball bowlers have complimented the death bowlers and worked in tandem to bring fruitful results.
On the other side, Gujarat Titans, the best side in the IPL 2023 playoff, suddenly looks indifferent with its approach. The batters have failed to put up a decent show, except Shubman Gill.
MI has defeated GT when they met in the league stages during the payback week. MI avenged the loss it incurred earlier against GT in the round one.
