RCB started favourites as the contest between them and DC began at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Kohli and Faf opened the innings once more with intent and added 82 runs for the first wicket. Mitch Marsh took du Plessis’ wicket at a score of 82 and subsequently, the incoming batter Glenn Maxwell was also sent back for a duck by Marsh.

Virat played another half-century innings, but it couldn’t come at a decent strike rate. He scored 55 runs off 46 deliveries before getting dismissed by Mukesh Kumar. In the end, Mahipal Lomror played a quickfire knock to take RCB’s total to 181 runs in 20 overs. Lomror added 54 runs in just 29 deliveries and remained unbeaten.

Delhi’s opening was a pain in the neck until they faced RCB in their home ground. DC openers Phil Salt and David Warner added 60 runs for the first wicket partnership, the highest for DC in the ongoing season of the IPL.

Despite the wicket of captain Warner in the sixth over, Phil Salt continued his assault against RCB bowlers and showed why everyone touted them to be the feared batting side ahead of the IPL. Salt scored 87 runs in 45 deliveries before getting dismissed.

Delhi was heading close to victory and was looking in a hurry to finish the game. Rilee Rossouw scored 35 runs in 22 balls and gave the winning blow to RCB with a six at deep mid-wicket.

The victory by six wickets in 16.4 overs has helped Delhi escape the bottom position of the Updated Points Table in IPL 2023. They are now placed in the penultimate slot with eight rating points from 10 matches. Meanwhile, RCB continues to hold fifth place with 10 rating points from as many matches.

With another healthy score of 45 runs, Faf du Plessis further strengthens his place atop the IPL 2023 Orange Cap leaderboard. The RCB skipper has mustered a total of 511 runs in 10 innings at an impressive strike rate of 157.11.

Du Plessis is followed by CSK’s Devon Conway, who scored 44 runs against MI in the afternoon game. Conway’s total score is now 458 runs in 11 innings.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also made significant gains in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap with his yet another half-century knock. Kohli scored 55 runs against DC and took his overall score to 419 runs in 10 innings.

CSK’s Tushar Deshpande scalped two wickets against MI in the afternoon game and went past the likes of Mohammad Shami to get the iPL 2023 Purple Cap. With 19 wickets in 11 innings, Deshpande currently holds the Purple Cap.

He is followed by Gujarat’s Mohammad Shami and Rashid Khan with 18 wickets each from 10 matches. MI’s Piyush Chawla is placed fourth in the IPL 2023 Purple Cap leaderboard with 17 scalps from 10 matches.
