The Women’s Premier League (first) season opened with Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants playing their first game. At the DY Patil Stadium, the Mumbai team triumphed emphatically. Gujarat chooses to bowl first after winning the toss. In 20 overs, Mumbai scored 207 runs for five wickets. The Gujarat team’s reaction was limited to 64 runs in 15.1 overs.

1st Inning: Mumbai Indians

Gujarat Giants captain Beth Mooney won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai Indians batting first scored 207 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Most runs for MI were scored by their captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Kaur scored 65 runs in just balls with the help of fourteen fours. The same Mumbai opener Hayley Matthews scored 47 runs in 31 balls with the help of four sixes and three fours. All-rounder Amelia Kerr scored 45 runs in 24 balls with the help of four fours and a six.

The bowling of the Gujarat Giants was exceptional. The GG captain used 8 bowlers in the entire match. Sneh Rana took two wickets for 43 runs in the over. Apart from this, Gardner, Tanuja Kanwar, and Wareham all got one wicket.

2nd Inning: Gujrat Giants

Along with the bowling of Gujrat Giants, the batting was also exceptional. Chasing the score of 207 runs, the team got all out on 64 runs only. Apart from Dayalan Hemalatha and Monica Patel, none of the batsmen could score in double figures. Saika Ishaque took 3.1 overs while bowling for Mumbai.
