WPL 2023: Mumbai Indians won the first match, and beat Gujarat Giants by 143 runs

The Women's Premier League (first) season opened with Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants playing their first game. At the DY Patil Stadium, the Mumbai team triumphed emphatically. Most runs for MI were scored by their captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Kaur scored 65 runs in just balls with the help of fourteen fours. The same Mumbai opener Hayley Matthews scored 47 runs in 31 balls with the help of four sixes and three fours. All-rounder Amelia Kerr scored 45 runs in 24 balls with the help of four fours and a six.

The bowling of the Gujarat Giants was exceptional. The GG captain used 8 bowlers in the entire match. Sneh Rana took two wickets for 43 runs in the over. Apart from this, Gardner, Tanuja Kanwar, and Wareham all got one wicket.
