Tim David the Big Singaporean All-Rounder is all set to play for Australia in the upcoming edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. But how does a Singaporean play for Australia? What is the story behind it? Is Tim David also an Australian? We have seen what Tim can do on a good day when he played in the PSL, in the Hundred, and even for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. So, what value will he add to the Australian team? Here is an in-depth look:

Tim David will play for Australia:

This is not the first time we are seeing a player of another nationality play for Australia. Earlier we have seen Dirk Nannes who played for the Netherlands and was of Dutch origin, play for Australia. Luke Ronchi, the wicket-keeper batter from New Zealand also played for Australia. So, it is not surprising to see Tim David play for the Men in Yellow. Tim made his international debut for Singapore in 2019.

Tim David was Born in Singapore and Bought Up in Australia:

Ever since he only played a few games for them. Singapore happens to be his place of birth and hence he had to play for them initially. His father was an engineer and they had traveled to Singapore for his work. In the early 2000s, when there was the Great Asian Financial Crisis, Tim and his family shifted back to Australia. From then on Tim’s career began in Australia.

If Tim plays for Australia which he eventually will, Australia will have the best fast bowling all-rounders. They will have Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, and Tim David! Add to that Glenn Maxwell and it becomes one of the most impactful middle-orders.

How Did Tim David Get Cleared to Play for Australia?

After living on the Australia Visa for many long years, Tim David’s formal citizenship with Australia was coincidentally just approved by the Australian Government. He is now an official citizen of Australia and also of Singapore. In every capacity, Tim David can play for Australia.
