T20 World Cup 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday unveiled the brand new jersey for team India’s T20 World Cup 2021 campaign, starting on October 24 in Dubai International Cricket Stadium against arch-rivals Pakistan.

The all-important showpiece event is slated to begin on 17th October with round 1 scheduled before the action of the Super 12 teams. The tournament will be organised in four venues, namely Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium and Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

BCCI in association with MPL Sports, the official kit sponsor of team India, presented the ‘Billion Cheers’ jersey which is inspired by the cheers of the billion fans of the team. As per the BCCI, the patterns designed in the jersey signifies a billion cheers of fans from all around the globe.

The jersey is designed in two shades of blue, Prussian blue and Royal blue, and for the first time, the Indian jersey has unique soundwave patterns.

“This is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that fans have been memorialised on a jersey. It carries their chants and cheers from iconic past matches, transformed into unique soundwave patterns,” stated a release from ML Sports.

“The Indian cricket team enjoys support not just in India but around the world, and there’s no better way to celebrate their excitement and energy than through this jersey,” said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

“This will undoubtedly provide the team with the much-needed enthusiastic support in their quest to emerge as the T20 champions of the world. We are also pleased to see that MPL Sports continues to deliver merchandise that is widely affordable and accessible.”

Jay Shah said that the new Indian jersey is the story of each Indian individual cricket fan and wearing it will give a sense of pride and joy to the players and the fans as well.
