Ravi Shastri wants Arshdeep Singh in India’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad at any cost: The selection process for India’s formidable squad for the all-important T20 World Cup 2022 is underway. The selectors are continuously looking at the outings made by the players in the T20 series. After the completion of the ongoing West Indies tour, India will have just three tournaments (Asia Cup and 2 bilateral home series) remaining to pick the final squad.

With not more than 2 months left for the World Cup in Australia, the pundits and veteran cricketers have begun making their predictions as to who will get the ticket to board a plane to Australia and who will be left out. Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has been the recent one to join the prediction bandwagon as he opened up on the chances of a 23-year-old Arshdeep Singh for the World Cup 2021.

Ravi Shastri, ahead of India vs West Indies 4th T20I in Florida, reckoned he would pick Arshdeep Singh in the mix of the bowlers for the T20 World Cup 2022 to have variety.

The surface in Australia often aids the left-arm seamers with the bounce and angle. Also, India will have three right-arm bowlers (Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar), so there will be a place for the left-arm pacer to fit into, he explained.

“I think very close to because India need variety. And in Australia, left-armers normally do a good job. There is bounce and the angle that he creates. He will be an ideal foil when you look at the Indian attack. It should have Bhuvi, Jasprit, Shami and then if you put him in the mix and all you might know that he might play in one of the games given the opportunity,” said Ravi Shastri.

Arshdeep Singh has impressed everyone with his skill set in his brief outing for team India recently. So far in the four T20I matches against West Indies, Arshdeep Singh has scalped seven wickets. The number is expected to grow as he is also playing the fifth match of the series.

Moreover, the 23-years old left-arm pacer has been exceptional in the death overs and has nailed yorkers to perfection at will.

“Me toh lunga usko. Me variety ke liye lunga aur jisko baithna hoga bahar woh baith sakte he. If there are four pacers picked there I would pick three right-armers and one left-armer and one all-rounder which is Hardik Pandya. Jasprit and Bhuvi are certainties and I feel Shami will get the nod,” Shastri concluded.
