Harshal Patel set to miss Asia Cup 2022, doubtful starter for T20 World Cup 2022: In a massive blow for team India ahead of the Asia Cup, pacer Harshal Patel is likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 after suffering an injury. The death ball specialist is reported to have suffered a side strain, which will keep him out of the remainder of the T20I series between India and the West Indies.

Harshal Patel missed the first three T20Is against West Indies due to a rib injury. The pacer was expected to make a comeback in the 4th T20I, however, an unfortunate side strain has ruled him out of the series.

Moreover, the 31-years old pacer’s selection for the T20 World Cup 2022 squad also goes in jeopardy following a side strain.

According to the sources in the know of the development, Harshal may take anywhere from four to six weeks to recover from the side strain. He will head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore for his further rehab program.

Meanwhile, Harshal Patel’s absence is a blessing in disguise for the fringe pacers who have been consistently pushing for their selection. The Indian management can hand a selection call for Asia Cup 2022 to Arshdeep Singh, who offers a similar skill set.

The All India Senior Selection Committee is set to announce India’s Asia Cup 2022 squad on Monday (8th August).

Young Indian pacer Deepak Chahar is expected to make his cut in India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. Chahar has been out of the cricketing action since the start of the IPL 2022 due to a hamstring injury.

He will be a key bowler to provide backup for the ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Both Bhuvi and Deepak are known to provide quick initial breakthroughs.

He has been named in India’s squad for the tour to Zimbabwe for three ODIs, later this month.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are two other players who are expected to return during the Asia Cup 2022.
