Pakistan set to host Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in T20I tri-series in November, schedule announced

The Pakistan Cricket Team is all set to host the Afghanistan Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka Cricket Team in a T20I tri-series.

The Pakistan Cricket Team is all set to host the Afghanistan Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka Cricket Team in a T20I tri-series. The series will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore and will serve as great preparation for all three teams for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. 

The T20I tri-series in Pakistan will begin on 17th November with Pakistan locking horns with Afghanistan. Following that, Sri Lanka will be in action with the Rashid Khan-led side, two days later. All the teams will play each other twice in the tri-nation series. 

The first two games of the series will be played in Rawalpindi, and after that, the focus will shift to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which will host the next five games, along with the final. It will be a great opportunity for all the players to find the correct combination for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Originally, it was Sri Lanka that was scheduled to lock horns with Pakistan in the ODI and the T20I series. While, the ODI series will be played as per schedule, the T20I series has been replaced by the tri-series, featuring Afghanistan too. 

This will be the first time that the Afghanistan Cricket Team will be playing against Pakistan in Pakistan. Although they played in the country during the Asia Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, they didn't play with each other during either tournament. 

"We look forward to hosting Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for Pakistan's maiden T20I tri-series, PCB COO Sumair Ahmed said in a statement on the PCB website. "This event will not only offer excellent preparation for next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup, but also present fans with exciting cricket across venues."

This will be the second time that Pakistan and Afghanistan will be featuring in the T20I tri-series this year. They are currently locking horns with each other in the UAE tri-series. Both teams have reached the final, which will be played on Sunday, September 7.
