Mumbai Indians Breaking: Suryakumar Yadav to miss first two matches of IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians Breaking: Mumbai Indians’ star batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, may remain absent in the first two matches of the Indian Premier League. The 33-year-old player has been at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for the last three months after undergoing sports hernia surgery in January. According to reports, Suryakumar Yadav is fit to return to the cricket field, but BCCI does not want to take any chances. Because the T20 World Cup 2024 is going to start immediately after the IPL ends, his presence is important.

The Mumbai Indians will start the IPL 2024 campaign on the 27th. In the first match, Mumbai will face Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans. This match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The second match of the 17th season will be played against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27. There is a possibility that Suryakumar will join the Mumbai Indians camp after these two matches.

According to BCCI sources, “Suryakumar Yadav’s rehabilitation is on track, and he will certainly ‘Return to Play’ in the IPL itself. However, it is still not clear whether the NCA’s Sports Science and Medical Team will give clearance to play in the first two away games against the Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad (March 27).”

In the absence of Suryakumar, Mumbai Indians management has no shortage of options. The manager can replace him with African batsman Dewald Brevis, who is famous for his attacking batting. Or captain Hardik Pandya himself can come to bat at number three because last season Pandya was seen playing well at number three for the Gujarat Titans. The Mumbai Indians will miss a consistent and game-changing talent like Suryakumar.
