Latest Points Table IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) moves out of their den and begins with a defeat as Delhi Capitals (DC) registers their maiden win of the season in TATA IPL 2024. Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) won the battle against CSK by 20 runs in the final over after scoring 191 runs. The win brings along two points for Delhi Capitals as they open their account in the Points Table IPL 2024.

MS Dhoni, once again, “finishes off in style,” but unlike the 2011 World Cup final, his team has ended up on the losing side. The veteran batter slammed an unbeaten 16-ball 37 which included four boundaries and three sixes, but couldn’t take his side home in Vishakhapatnam.

CSK required 45 runs off the last two overs with MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle. Mukesh Kumar bowled a brilliant 19th over, which made the game done and dusted for CSK. The pacer gave away just 5 runs in the penultimate over to end CSK’s hopes of making three wins in a row.

Though CSK’s defeat was confirmed, Dhoni had some plans to entertain his fans. He launched an attack on Anrich Nortje in the final over and smocked two sixes and as many fours, which included a last-ball sixer.

Ajinkya Rahane, earlier in the innings, scored a brilliant 30-ball 45 runs to bail out CSK from a crunch situation after the fall of two openers cheaply. Rahane was aided by Daryl Mitchell (34 runs off 26) and Shivam Dube (18 runs off 17) during the innings.

Delhi Capitals (DC) got a solid start to their innings with both their openers playing a big part. Prithvi Shaw scored 43 runs in 27 deliveries, while David Warner returned after scoring his half-century.

The fantastic knocks by the openers was supplemented by Rishabh Pant’s captain’s knock. What better occasion to announce your arrival than a game against CSK? Pant scored a sensational half-century which saw him tonk three sixes and four boundaries. Despite a few moments of hiccups, Delhi managed to pile up 191 runs in 20 overs.

For CSK, pacer Matheesh Pathirana remained the pick of the bowlers as he scalped three wickets, which included two searing yorkers to remove Mitchell Marsh and Tristin Stubbs in the same over.
