In a Major Development ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, New Zealand star player and former captain Kane Williamson Joins Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He joined the team as a strategic advisor for the upcoming season in the Indian Premier League.
His addition to the team not only plays a critical role in the team management but also serves as a mentor to the young players. This decision came after a disappointing performance in the last edition, as they finished at 7th position in the IPL 2025 Points Table.

Kane Williamson to replace Zaheer Khan’s role?
As per the media reports, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was not happy with Zaheer Khan’s performance as a mentor in the last edition of the Indian Premier League. There are speculations that Zaheer might step down from the mentor’s role.
The franchise is making some critical changes to the team management ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Apart from Kane Williamson, England’s former cricketer Carl Crowe will likely be appointed as LSG’s spin bowling coach.

Williamson led New Zealand to qualify for the finals in the 2019 World Cup and 2021 World Cup.
