Jofra Archer undergoes surgery again amid IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians (MI) senior-most pacer Jofra Archer is yet again in the headline after he missed his IPL team’s Tuesday’s match against Gujarat Titans (GT) due to fitness issues. While there were a few speculations that the pacer might have injured his elbow again and will move out of India to treat it, Jofra Archer himself took to his Twitter handle to clear the air.

Notably, an article published in the Telegraph reported that Jofra Archer has re-aggravated his troubled elbow and will travel to Belgium to undergo another surgery, leaving the ongoing Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 midway.

However, rubbishing all the claims, Jofra Archer, on Wednesday, hits out at the reports claiming him to undergo another surgery. While taking a shot at the reporter who published the news article with consent, Jofra Archer wrote, “Putting out an article without knowing the facts & without my consent is crazy. “

“Whoever the reporter is shame on you, an already worrying and troubling time for a player and you exploit it for your personal gain, it’s people like you that are the problem.”

It’s important to note that the speculations rose after Archer missed Mumbai Indians’ last match against Gujarat Titans (GT), which the former side lost by 55 runs. During the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma said Jofra Archer is not well to play the game and was replaced by Riley Meredith.

The 28-year-old pacer has featured in just two matches so far in the IPL 2023. His last IPL 2023 appearance came against Punjab Kings (PBKS), where he scalped a solitary wicket and remained quite expensive with his four overs.

Meanwhile, in the first game as well, Archer wasn’t seen at his best and was taken to the cleaners by RCB batters. The pacer bowled four overs and conceded 33 runs without any wickets.

Mumbai Indians (MI) are seriously missing their premier death bowler in Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently recovering from his back injury. Bumrah is majorly out of cricket since October 2022 and is expected to take another couple of months to recover.

Talking about MI’s death bowling woes, the bowlers are conceding too many runs after performing well in the first phase of the innings. Against Punjab Kings (PBKS), in 16-20 overs, MI conceded 96 runs while against Gujarat Titans (GT) they went for 77 runs in the death overs.

Rohit Sharma and Co will now face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next fixture at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The five times IPL champions have a few days left to work things out before they enter the Wankhede for the clash against RR on April 30th.
