Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah raised quite a few eyebrows ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The fast bowler subtly took a dig at his franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) after they traded Hardik Pandya back into the team for the upcoming edition. 

Mumbai Indians recently got back Hardik Pandya and will be paying him INR 15 crores as a salary. The all-rounder who was an interval part of the team since 2015 moved to Gujarat Titans in 2022 and after captaining them for two seasons, he’s back at his old franchise. 

Mumbai Indians traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who paid 17.5 crores to them. The five-time champions along with 15 crores paid an undisclosed amount to Gujarat Titans for Hardik Pandya ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

After all the deals and trade were completed, Jasprit Bumrah posted a cryptic tweet that caught the attention of many. The fast bowler posted a story on his Instagram, which stated that “Sometimes being greedy is good and being loyal isn’t.” He, however, deleted that after posting it. 

Jasprit Bumrah however didn’t stop there as after that he posted another story, which stated: “Silence is sometimes the best answer.”

This could well be a hint for the Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 that Jasprit Bumrah isn’t happy with his salary. The fast bowler is currently getting INR 12 crores from the franchise. The team retained him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction along with skipper Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. 

After posting cryptic stories, Jasprit Bumrah unfollowed his franchise Mumbai Indians on both Instagram and Twitter. This also raised a lot of speculations made many think about his future with the team ahead of the IPL 2024, slated to be played in March-April next year.

IPL 2024: Jasprit Bumrah’s IPL numbers 

Jasprit Bumrah made his debut in IPL in 2013 for Mumbai Indians. The fast bowler played two games in the inaugural season but after that, he developed himself into one of the best bowlers in the world. The fast bowler since the last one has been with Mumbai Indians and it’s fair to say that he’s one of the main reasons behind their success. 

Jasprit Bumrah has played 120 games in the IPL. He has picked 145 wickets in those games at an average and economy of 23.30 and 7.39 respectively. Apart from this, he has picked 2 four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul as well in the tournament with the best of 5/10.
