IPL 2024: Huge Blow for CSK as THIS Crucial Player Ruled Out Of Phase 1 Of IPL 2024
IPL 2024: Huge Blow for CSK

IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time champion franchise have been dealt a huge blow as the veteran and crucial player DEVON CONWAY is set to miss Phase 1 of the IPL 2024. CSK will surely miss the Player of the Match of the final of IPL 2023 in Phase 1 of the IPL 2024.

The 32-year-old injured the thumb during the recently held 2nd match of the T20I series against Australia. After medical consultation, he wasn’t available to play the opening Test as well.

The New Zealand batter sustained a minor fracture in the thumb joint during the match and wasn’t even available to bat in that match, necessitating an eight-week recovery period post-surgery.

The Blackcaps official post read: “Opener Devon Conway will this week undergo surgery on the left thumb he damaged during the KFC T20I series against Australia. Following several scans and specialist advice, the decision was made to operate on Conway with a likely recovery period of at least eight weeks.”

Conway’s recuperation is expected to take at least eight weeks, so it’s quite possible that he won’t be fit for more than half of the tournament, which is scheduled to begin on March 22 and end by the end of May.

Conway Stats for CSK

Conway has played 23 matches in the IPL and he made his debut in 2022 for CSK. In those 23 games, he scored 924 runs with an average of 49 runs and a strike rate of 141. He has smashed 99 fours and 30 sixes.

Conway has been a crucial component of CSK’s plan, therefore his absence is a serious setback for the squad. His rehabilitation and return to the pitch will be much anticipated by the team and its supporters.
