3 Players Mumbai Indians (MI) can target in IPL 2024 Auction: Five times IPL winning side, Mumbai Indians (MI) has retained 17 players from its previous squad. The franchise has kept the heart of the team close to itself and released the remaining players from its original 25-man squad of IPL 2023.

Jofra Archer is one of the big players, whom Mumbai has released ahead of the IPL 2024 Auctions besides the likes of Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, and Chris Jordan among others.

The Tata IPL 2023 turned out to be a decent show for Mumbai Indians (MI), who had multiple injury blows throughout the campaign. Their main man Jasprit Bumrah was not fit to participate in the tournament, still Rohit Sharma and Co managed to reach the qualifiers.

One of the major issues with Mumbai Indians for a long time has been its spin bowling. The Blue and Gold team has never managed to find a threatening spin bowling option so far after the IPL 2022 mega auctions, where they had to let go of Rahul Chahar.

With the release of Jofra Archer, the franchise would also aim to get a decent pacer to replace the Englishmen.

Wanindu Hasaranga: Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been, shockingly, released from the squad by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. Mumbai Indians (MI) can try to get him in a bid to sort out most of their spin bowling issues.

Hasaranga is a top-ranked T20I bowler and has a knack for producing wickets in clusters. In three editions of the IPL, Hasaranga played featured in 26 contests in which he scalped 35 wickets at an expensive economy of over 8.

Karthik Tyagi: 23-years old domestic pacer, Karthik Tyagi was associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2023, however, the franchise has decided to release him ahead of the upcoming auctions. He debuted in the IPL 2020 where he scalped nine wickets from 10 matches and impressed everyone, however, it was just a one-of-a-kind season for the speedster. Since 2020, Karthik couldn’t perform much for his teams which is one of the reasons why he has been released by SRH.

Besides Jasprit Bumrah, Mumbai Indians (MI) do not have any skilful pacer in their ranks and Tyagi would be a decent choice for the franchise to look up to.

Harshal Patel: Former RCB pacer, Harshal Patel remained the top wicket-taker in the IPL 2021 and everyone started associating him with the name “Purple Patel”. However, situations have not remained similar since that one blistering season of the IPL.

He is a genuine wicket-taker bowler, but his abilities come with a slight pinch of expensive overs. His economy rate usually remains on the wrong side of 8, which is a concern. However, he can still be a lethal option for a bowling unit, especially in the death overs.
