IPL 2023: CSK defeated Delhi Capitals by 27 runs in the 55th Match of TATA IPL 2023 and moved one step ahead towards the playoffs. MS Dhoni knocked 20 runs in just nine balls, and Shivam Dube scored 25 runs in 12 balls, whereas Matheesha Pathirana took three wickets with an economy rate of 9.25.
Delhi capitals failed badly one more time, which signifies why they are holding the last position in the points table but somehow, They stopped CSK at 167 runs but also didn’t able to chase the target and hence lost the match. Mitchell Marsh has taken three wickets, whereas Axar Patel played well as he took two wickets and scored 21 runs as well.
DC fails to chase 168 runs:
In The Second Inning, Delhi’s skipper, David Warner lost his wicket at the second ball of the inning, and he gone for Duck. Delhi’s batters was playing slowly and didn’t tried to hit the ball and release some pressure. Manish Pandey and Rilee Rossouw made a small partnership of 59 runs on the tough surface, but both the batsmen had played very slow inning as Manish scored 27 runs in 29 balls, whereas Rossouw scored 35 runs in 37 balls.
Axar Patel, who showed some intent, but in the end, he too failed and scored only 21 runs. Except these three batters, no batsmen from Delhi Capitals side batted well or didn’t even try to built a partnership.
CSK’s spinner took the game:
Chennai’s spinner had less wickets than fast bowlers but they bowled good spell in the middle overs and kept pressure on the DC batters. Jadeja and Moeen gave 19 and 16 runs, respectively. Matheesha Pathirana took three wickets and now, he looks dangerous as he was getting lots of wickets in every match.
Deepak Chahar gave two early breakthroughs, and both wickets are of big fishes. The first one was of David Warner, and the second one was of Phil Salt.
Chennai gave a defendable Target:
In the First Inning, Chennai batters struggled at the starting of the inning, but In the Middle overs, they batted well. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad both got out early by scoring 10 and 24 runs, respectively. Ajinkya Rahane played a aggressive inning and tried to gear up in the game but lost his wicket and scored only 21 runs with two fours.
Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu scored 25 and 23 runs, respectively, but the inning by Shivam Dube was very good as he knocked three sixes and shifts momentum toward his Team. Once again, MS Dhoni came to bat and hitted two sixes, one over the deep mid-wicket and the other one was over the bowler.
DC bowlers stop CSK batters:
Mitchell Marsh used the best of conditions and bowled slower balls with some variation and change in length and this led him to get three wickets, and he also bowled very economical spell as Marsh gave only 18 runs in four overs. Axar Patel took two wickets and both the wickets was at crucial point. Kuldeep, Lalit, and Khaleel have taken wickets each.
