Chennai Super Kings finally are off the mark in IPL 2026 as they registered their first win of the season after three defeats. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side beat Delhi Capitals by 23 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. Put into bat, Chennai posted a total of 212 for two, in response, Delhi got all out for 189.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s poor form continued as Chennai lost the first wicket for 62 runs with Sanju Samson (115*) doing the majority of the runs in the opening stand. After the opening wicket, Ayush Mhatre (59) and Samson took Delhi bowlers to cleaners and slammed them all over the park.

The Samson-Mhatre duo added 113 runs for the second wicket and set the platform for a big total. Samson carried his bat through and hit a brilliant century, while Shivam Dube (20*) played a valuable hand as Chennai posted a total of 212 for two.

Delhi started well with the bat with KL Rahul, who scored 18, and Pathum Nissanka (41) adding an opening stand of 61 runs. However, Chennai were quick to make a comeback as they picked four wickets in the span of 15 runs.

David Miller, who was in news in the last game, couldn’t make an impact as Delhi lost five wickets for 121. Ashutosh Sharma, who came as an impact player, hit a few sixes to revive the hopes of fans but it wasn’t enough.

The hero of the innings was Tristan Stubbs (60), who came to bat at five. He took the game deep but fell in the 19th over. Chennai ended Delhi’s innings on 189 to win the game by 23 runs. Jamie Overton was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as he picked four wickets.
