Who will open for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026? Revealed

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is around the corner and the preparations for it are in full swing. The league will begin on March 28 with defending champions RCB taking on SRH in the tournament opener at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Delhi Capitals will be in focus going into the IPL 2026. They are one of the sides who are yet to win an IPL trophy. They looked in great form last year, but missed out on the playoffs, finishing in the second half of the points table.

Under the leadership of Axar Patel, they would want to end their title drought and win the title. They have quite a few match winners on their side and it’s fair to say that if they play to their potential, they can win the title. 

KL Rahul to open innings for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026

With IPL 2026 around the corner, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has made a massive revelation. He openly mentioned that KL Rahul will be back at the opening spot. Speaking to reporters, he said:

“KL Rahul will open for Delhi Capitals.”

KL Rahul batted in the middle order in the last season. However, later he was back at the opening spot due to injuries to players. He would be keen to make the most of the opportunity and have another 600+ run season in the league.

Axar Patel also provided an update on Mitchell Starc. The Australian pacer will miss the first few games of the league due to workload management. On his availability, Patel said:

If Mitchell Starc's NOC is cleared he could even play in the first game. We are waiting on the update, there has been no clear direction yet. He is 100% fit.

Delhi Capitals will open their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1.
