It was an evening meant to be in the name of Suryakumar Yadav, who struck a sensational century in the IPL. This first, though, in the lucrative Indian T20 league. SKY slammed an undefeated 103-run knock in just 49 deliveries with the help of 11 boundaries and six maximums.

The outstanding effort from the Mumbai batter helped his side reach 218 run total in 20 overs against the potent bowling of Gujarat Titans (GT). Earlier in the game, skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got some runs under their belts. The two openers provided a rampage start to the innings, however, both were rocked by Rashid Khan in a single over after the powerplay.

After notching up 218 runs in the first innings, Mumbai continued their purple patch with the ball in hand as well. Young Akash Madhwal provided the initial breakthrough of Wridhiman Saha followed by the wicket of skipper Hardik Pandya by Jason Behrendorff.

Gujarat could never take off their innings with Mumbai bowlers continuing to press with the climbing required run rate. David Miller and Vijay Shankar tried to steady innings for a bit, but they were also removed soon by the MI Bowlers.

In the end, Rashid Khan played a brilliant knock to reduce the damage of the loss with his sublime 79 runs in 32 deliveries. MI won the contest by 27 runs and bagged two crucial points.
