Chris Gayle TATA IPL
IMG SRC: Times of India

The Universe Boss Chris Gayle has made his intent clear to come back to the IPL in the next season which is TATA IPL 2023. The Universe Boss is adamant to make a comeback and win the title for any of the two franchises he has played for referring to Punjab Kings and RCB. In a recent interview, Gayle spoke about how he felt disrespected by the franchises and opted out of the league for IPL 2022 but is willing to make a comeback. Here is an in-depth look at what the Universe Boss had to say:

Chris Gayle Said “Didn’t get the respect I deserved, wasn’t treated properly”:

Gayle specifically fired shots at the Punjab Kings management who according to him didn’t treat him with much respect. Chris joined the Punjab-based franchise in 2019. He was the top scorer for the franchise after KL Rahul and also ended up as the 6th highest run-getter that season. After that season Chris was however sacked in IPL 2020 and IPL 2021. He was benched and only given a few games. It wasn’t his form that was the concern but the franchise was trying out fresher players.

Interview:

“For the last couple of years the way the IPL went about, I felt like I wasn’t treated properly. So, I thought okay, you didn’t get the respect you deserved after doing so much for the IPL. So, I said OKAY, that’s it! I’m not going to bother to enter the draft and hence I left it as it is. There is always going to be life after cricket and I have to adapt to the normality of life.”, Gayle said while speaking to UK.Co.

Gayle further added, “Next year I’m coming back, they need me. I’ve represented 3 IPL teams. Kolkata, Punjab, and Bangalore. Between RCB and Punjab, I would love to get a title for one of those teams. I had a great stint with RCB where I was most successful and Punjab, they’ve also been very good. I love to explore and I love challenges so let’s see what happens.”

Chris Gayle Records in the IPL:

Gayle holds the record for the highest IPL score ever. He smoked 175 runs off 66 balls against the Pune Warriors in 2013 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He was tonking every bowler that evening.

The next record held by Gayle is for the most centuries scored in the IPL. Chris has scored 6 centuries.
