RCB Crushes Gujarat Titans by 92 Runs to Storm Into IPL 2026 Final: Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced one of their most complete performances of the season to book a place in the TATA IPL 2026 final after demolishing Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

In a high-pressure knockout clash, RCB dominated every department of the game. Rajat Patidar led from the front with a breathtaking unbeaten 93 off just 33 balls, while the bowlers ripped through Gujarat Titans’ batting lineup inside the powerplay to seal a massive victory.

The win sends Bengaluru directly into the IPL 2026 final with huge momentum, while Gujarat Titans will get another opportunity through Qualifier 2.

Rajat Patidar Powers RCB to Massive Total

Batting first after Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field, Royal Challengers Bengaluru came out with aggressive intent from the opening over.

Venkatesh Iyer provided an explosive start, smashing 19 runs off only seven deliveries before falling to Kagiso Rabada. Virat Kohli then took charge and played a fluent innings of 43 from 25 balls, striking five boundaries and a six.

Devdutt Padikkal continued the momentum with a quickfire 30 off 19 balls as RCB crossed the 100-run mark at a blistering pace.

However, the innings truly belonged to captain Rajat Patidar.

Walking in during the middle overs, Patidar completely dismantled the Gujarat bowling attack with fearless strokeplay and clean hitting. He remained unbeaten on 93 off just 33 deliveries, smashing five fours and nine gigantic sixes at a stunning strike rate of 281.82.

Krunal Pandya added further damage with a valuable 43 off 28 balls, while Jitesh Sharma finished strongly with an unbeaten 15 off five balls.

RCB eventually piled up a mammoth 254 for 5 in 20 overs — one of the highest totals ever scored in an IPL playoff match.

Patidar Explains His Batting Approach

After being named Player of the Match, Rajat Patidar spoke about the aggressive mindset that helped RCB dominate the game.

The RCB skipper said the team’s positive body language and fearless intent made the difference on the big stage.

Patidar explained that he usually takes a few deliveries to understand the pitch conditions before fully attacking the bowlers.

“It was a fantastic game for us and the way everyone came out with positive intent and striking the ball confidently made a big difference,” Patidar said after the match.

“Personally, I like to take around eight to ten balls early on to understand how the wicket is playing and once I get that feel, I back myself fully.”

He also praised the bowling unit for executing their plans perfectly during the powerplay.

“The plan was very clear that we needed to get their top three batters out in the powerplay and that set the tone for us,” he added.

Gujarat Titans Collapse Under Pressure

Chasing a massive target of 255, Gujarat Titans needed a flying start, but the innings fell apart almost immediately.

Sai Sudharsan’s dismissal perfectly summed up Gujarat’s disastrous evening. The left-hander was out hit wicket after scoring 14 runs, handing RCB early momentum.

Captain Shubman Gill struggled for rhythm and managed only two runs before Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed him cheaply.

Jos Buttler briefly counterattacked with 29 off 11 balls, smashing four boundaries and two sixes, but Josh Hazlewood quickly ended his stay at the crease.

The wickets kept tumbling as Gujarat slumped to 51 for 5 inside the powerplay, effectively ending the contest within the first six overs.

Jacob Duffy, Rasikh Dar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood bowled with discipline and aggression, never allowing Gujarat any opportunity to rebuild.

Rahul Tewatia Fights Lone Battle

Despite the collapse, Rahul Tewatia produced a fighting knock for Gujarat Titans. The all-rounder smashed 68 off 43 balls with eight boundaries and four sixes, trying desperately to reduce the margin of defeat.

However, the required run rate continued to rise beyond control, and Tewatia received little support from the other end. Rashid Khan scored eight runs, Kagiso Rabada contributed nine, while Mohammed Siraj struggled for timing during his 13-ball stay.

Eventually, Gujarat Titans were bowled out for 162 in 19.3 overs. The 92-run defeat marked one of Gujarat’s heaviest playoff losses in IPL history.

Shubman Gill Admits Fielding Errors Hurt Gujarat Titans

After the match, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill admitted that poor fielding proved costly in such an important game.

Gill said his side was still in the contest during the middle overs before dropped catches and sloppy ground fielding shifted momentum completely towards RCB.

“We were in a decent position until around the twelfth or thirteenth over, but our fielding let us down with lapses both in catching and on the ground,” Gill said.

The Gujarat captain also pointed out that the team failed to capitalize during the powerplay while chasing a huge target.

“On a ground like this where the ball travels quickly and the outfield is fast, getting a strong start in the powerplay is crucial,” he added.

Despite the heavy defeat, Gujarat Titans still remain alive in the tournament and will now prepare for Qualifier 2.
