TATA IPL 2023

With this season of the IPL coming to a closure and us being at the far end of the tournament, all eyes are now on the upcoming season, TATA IPL 2023. The season is almost over for teams like the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders. However, teams like the Lucknow Super Giants and the Titans have their matters settled and combinations sorted. Here is a look at all the suggestive changes for each IPL team for IPL 2023:

Mumbai Indians Need a Good Spinner in TATA IPL 2023:

The Mumbai Indians are lacking in their bowling unit. Their batting even after the failure of Pollard, Kishan, and Rohit is looking sorted with Tilak and Surya getting the job done. But their bowling which was their strong point at a time is miserable today. It’s only Jasprit who has been top-notch. Mumbai needs a good spinner to fill the void of Rahul Chahar! Murugan Ashwin looked off-color this season. Mayank Markande isn’t given a game; hence it is difficult to comment on him. But MI seriously lacked a good spinner.

Chennai Super Kings Need a Good Indian Fast Bowler in TATA IPL 2023:

The absence of Deepak Chahar didn’t do any favor to the Chennai Super Kings. Deepak was their first-choice Indian pacer. But in his absence, Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh were expected to step up. Both these bowlers were impressive but the impactful performances weren’t seen. So, a good Indian fast bowler will be their key to success.

Kolkata Knight Riders Need a Good Opener in TATA IPL 2023:

A good opener will do wonders for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The team has been floating around with openers throughout the IPL 2022. They tried Ajinkya Rahane initially. Then they moved to Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, Aaron Finch, and Jackson. But the void of Shubman Gill isn’t filled clearly. The team lacks a good opener or they lack stability. If Ajinkya Rahane would have been given more opportunities, I believe he would have delivered as he had an amazing SMAT 2021.

Rajasthan Royals Need Stability in TATA IPL 2023:

The Rajasthan Royals is a team on the winning ways in IPL 2022. But the team certainly lacks stability. In the first few games, we saw Yashasvi Jaiswal opening the batting. After 3 games it was Devdutt Padikkal. We saw Navdeep Saini in a few games and then it was Kuldeep Sen. Karun Nair walked in for one game and has vanished ever since. The only constants in the team have been Samson, Butler, Yuzi, and Ash. They even played Jimmy Neesham in place of Trent Boult. The team needs to stop chopping and changing so much. They are doing well but chopping and changing create insecurity among players.

Gujarat Titans Need a Good Opener in TATA IPL 2023:

Wriddhiman Saha is not in the prime of his career. His age is not in his favor. The same applies to Matthew Wade. The Gujarat Titans have effectively used both these batters to get through the IPL 2022 season but they will need to find a solution for IPL 2023. The Titans had bought Jason Roy at 2 Cr but his absence cost them a lot. So, the Titans need a good opener for the forthcoming season. Martin Guptill can do the job or even an Indian option will get the job done.

Lucknow Super Giants Lack a Pure Batsman:

The Lucknow Super Giants is an elite team with excellent balance. But the team heavily relies on all-rounders. Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Deepak Hooda, and Quinton De Kock! All the mentioned players do more than one job on the field. The Lucknow team has a pure batter in the form of Aayush Badoni but they need an experienced campaigner. Manish Pandey can get that job done but he isn’t in the 11. If they are not backing Manish Pandey, they need to find another option in which they have faith. Aayush Badoni is supremely talented but he isn’t a tested commodity for the crunch situations.

Punjab Kings Need a Good Swing Bowler in TATA IPL 2023:

The Punjab Kings currently have Sandeep Sharma. But Sandy is not effectively doing the job for them in the initial few overs. Sandeep Sharma can swing the ball into the right-handers. Sharma has been given a chance at the far end of the tournament which shows that the team management didn’t believe in him initially. So, the Punjab Kings need a good bowler for the powerplay overs. The Kings have Arshdeep and KG Rabada who take care of the death overs but the powerplay overs are a point of concern.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Need an Attacking Top-Order Batter:

The RCB team once had the likes of Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, and ABD. But now they have Faf and Anuj Rawat. The attacking potential is missing. The team has the slowest run rate in the powerplay overs. They are even worse than Mumbai, the team which has Rohit and Ishan having the dullest phase of their career. They are backing Anuj Rawat. He was initially mighty impressive but is struggling for a few games. Kohli and Faf are similar players who take time initially and blast in the death overs. But this is slowing down the run rate in the initial few overs. They can float Maxi up the order to resolving this problem or can bring in someone like a Rajapaksha who can pinch-hit in the powerplay overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Need a Good Batter in the Middle:

The Sunrisers Hyderabad on paper look sorted but they are over-reliant on their top three. Nicholas Pooran isn’t in his mood and Aiden Markram is scoring at just over run-a-ball. The same is the case with Williamson but he bats deep. Abhishek Sharma is batting well and so is Tripathi. But 2-3 batters cannot win you the league. It needs to be a team effort. The Hyderabadi Hurricanes lack a good finisher. They tried giving the job to Pooran but he isn’t delivering. Pooran’s best comes out when he bats number 3 or 4. So, that is an ideal role for him. They need to back Abdul Samad or need to bring in a finisher. They must hope that Mumbai vacates Tim David.

Delhi Capitals Need a Good Foreign Pacer:

The overseas fast-bowling slot is still empty They have Mustafizur Rahman but the “Fizz” is missing. He does the job effectively in the death overs but the powerplay overs are a question. The team retained Anrich Nortje but looks like Nortje is missing his South African mate KG Rabada. So, the Capitals need a good overseas fast bowler to effectively fill the void of KG Rabada. They can go for any English or Australian pacer. The best available option next year would be Tom or Sam Curran.
