The TATA IPL 2022 is one hell of a ride. The season began with the conquest between Kolkata and Chennai and since then the games have taken a flight. The game on Thursday evening was the one between the Gujarat Titans and the Rajasthan Royals. Hardik Pandya was the star of the match with the bat in hand. The toss was won by the Rajputs from Rajasthan and they opted to bowl. This decision was no surprise as every team that is winning the toss is opting to bowl first. The Rajasthan team had made one eyebrow-raising change as Trent Boult was rested and James Neesham was bought in. Yash Dayal was making his debut for the Gujarat Titans.
The batting innings of Gujarat didn’t have the ideal start. The team was lagging at 15-2 after the wickets of Matthew Wade and Vijay Shankar fell. Hardik stepped up and came in to bat at number 4. Shubman and Hardik moved the ball around and were scoring an odd boundary on the loose balls. After the mandatory powerplay, the scorecard said 42-2.
Hardik’s innings took complete momentum away from the Rajasthan Team after the powerplay. Shubman Gill was dismissed by Riyan Parag but Hardik carried the game ahead with Abhinav Manohar. Abhinav Manohar Sadrangani also proved his worth in the team by making a gutsy partnership with Hardik. The duo belted the Rajasthan bowler. Hardik was in full flow. He unleashed his beast mode. When Abhinav went back for 43 runs off 28 balls, Gujarat was at 139-4. David Miller walked in and stole the show from then on. He scored a quickfire 31 of 14 balls. His innings propelled GT to 192-4.

This innings began on a flyer. Jos Butler showed his class. He unleashed his beast mode too! Jos was bossing all the new bowlers. He feasted on the pace of Mohammad Shami and Yash Dayal. But Yash Dayal made a comeback! The youngster from Lucknow took the nick of DDP’s bat on his very first ball. Shubman made no mistake and DDP was out for a golden duck! RR was on 28-1. Rajasthan Royals looked like they were fooling around with their batting order.
Ravichandran Ashwin was sent to bat up the order at number 3. It was something unique but not the ideal thing to do. Lockie’s extra pace was fire for Ravi Ash as he handed out a catch to David Miller. Butler was tonking from the other end but he was running out of partners. RR was at 65-3 after 6 overs. With Butler back in the pavilion. Lockie had got him.
The following batters couldn’t do much damage. Renowned players like Sanju Samson, Rassie, and James Neesham kept losing their wickets at regular intervals. From the bowling point of view, Lockie and Yash Dayal just broke the back of RR. The wickets kept falling at constant intervals like 74-4, 90-5, 116-6. RR ended with 155-9 of their 20 overs. GT won by 37 runs. This win has lifted the Titans to the first position on the points table.
