Bullying is one thing that each of us stands against. We might have mistakenly done something like that in past but each of us grows up to be a responsible and more sensible individual. But at times even professional cricketers find it difficult to get rid of these demons. While speaking to Ravichandran Ashwin on the Rajasthan Royals’ podcast during IPL 2022, Yuzvendra Chahal recalled an incident of ragging by one of the senior overseas players. Here is an in-depth look at what Yuzvendra Chahal had to say:

IPL 2022, Was Tied, Gagged and Forgotten the Whole Night by Andrew Symonds and James Franklin:

Yuzvendra Chahal is playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. Yuzvendra Chahal recalled one of his most horrifying experiences at the Mumbai Indians’ camp in 2011. It was an incident of ragging at the hands of Andrew Symonds and James Franklin. Both the players from Australia and New Zealand were an integral part of the Mumbai Indians alongside Yuzi in the 2011 Champions League T20 Tournament.

“They partied a lot and drank a lot of “juice”. After that, they tied my hands and legs and said now you have to open it up. They were in so much masti that they even taped my mouth. They partied more and forgot about me. I was kept in the same position for the entire night. The cleaner came in the next morning and freed me. “Yuzi added. In conclusion, he said, “The cleaner asked me from how long I was like that, and I answered saying from the night itself. They did not apologize to me but informally said that it happens at times because of the “juice” and when they party a lot”.

Many netizens got offended by the kind of experience that young Indian players have to go through for playing in the greatest T20 League. Yuzi also recalled another Incident.

One of the “Drunk” Players Hung me from the 15th Floor of the Balcony:

“I never told this story, from today, everyone will know. I never shared this. This dates back to 2013 when I was with Mumbai Indians, we had a match in Bangalore. There was a get-together after that. So, there was a very drunk player, I won’t say his name. He was very drunk, he was looking at me for a long time and he just called me and he took me outside and he hung me on the balcony,”, Yuzi said in the podcast shared by Rajasthan and hosted by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Yuzvendra Chahal further added, “And my hands were around him, like this (behind the neck). Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and they handled it. I kind of fainted, they gave me water. Then I realized how responsible we need to be when we go anywhere. So, this was one incident where I felt I made a narrow escape. Had there been the slightest of mistakes, I would’ve fallen.”
