IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on April 16: Kane Williamson and his troops thrashed Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in last night’s fixture at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai by seven wickets and registered their third successive win of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made a tremendous turnaround to their IPL 2022 campaign following two early defeats. After losing two initial matches of the season, SRH have gone on to win its next three games.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opening woes continue to haunt them as the new opening pair of Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer couldn’t get them off to a flying start. Both the openers were sent back to the dugout in mere 4 overs.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer along with Nitish Rana did a bit of rescue work, after three early wickets against SRH. Iyer and Rana stitched a partnership of 40 runs before the dismissal of the skipper which took KKR to 90 runs total inside 10 overs.

Nitish Rana played a brilliant knock of 54 runs from 36 deliveries while Andre Russell used his muscle power to finish the game on a high. Russell scored an unbeaten 49 from 25 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and as many maximums.

Owing to magnificent efforts from Nitish Rana and Andre Russell, KKR managed to put up 175 runs total on the board for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In pursuit of a challenging ask, SRH lost control of the innings with their openers getting dismissed inside the powerplay. However, Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram looked in a complete mood to whack the KKR bowlers.

While Tripathi launched the assault against KKR, Markram remained quiet and gave himself time to settle down. The former KKR batter, Rahul Tripathi scored 71 runs off his 37 deliveries while Aiden Markram played an unbeaten knock of 68 from 36 balls to take his side home.

In this article, we will take a look at IPL 2022 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap – Updated on April 16.

IPL 2022 Points Table:

With the win over Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have accumulated six rating points. Though they have points tied with five other franchises, their negative net run rate kept them at the seventh position. The Orange Army would require a couple of good wins to enter the positive territory of net run rate in the Tata IPL 2022.

KKR have three wins and three losses in six IPL 2022 matches which puts them in fourth place in the points table. KKR needs to address their opening issues as soon as possible to return back to winning ways.
