IPL Points Table: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bag an easy and convincing win against Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) by 4 wickets in just 13.4 overs. Dinesh Karthik hit the final runs for the team as RCB secured their fourth win of the season and moved up in the IPL Points Table 2024. More about it later in the article.

RCB vs GT Match Summary

With 147 runs on the board, it was always going to be a herculean task for the Gujarat Titans (GT) to defend it. Especially against the batting like RCB, who have some of the best chasers in the sport.

The equation was overly simplified by the RCB openers – Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli – who added scaled-up 92 runs in the powerplay. Skipper Faf du Plessis played the aggressor’s role with him beating 64 runs in just 23 deliveries.

Though it looked like RCB’s game by a stretch, especially after that 92-run stand in the first 6 overs, they somehow lost the plot after they lost five wickets on the bounce. Gujarat Titans (GT) made a brilliant comeback with the wickets of Will Jacks (1), Rajat Patidhar (2), Glenn Maxwell (4), Cameron Green (1) and Virat Kohli (42), thanks to Joshua Little and Noor Ahmad, who got four and two wickets respectively.

Gujarat looked on top of their game and even challenged the RCB against their 147-run meagre total. However, Dinesh Karthik (21*) and Swapnil Singh (15*) held their nerves and took RCB over the rope in 13.4 overs.

Earlier in the game, Gujarat Titans (GT) could only manage 147 runs owing to their poor batting display. The top order once again failed to fire with their top three batters collectively returning with 9 runs.

Shahrukh Khan and David Miller did a bit of rebuilding with a 61-run partnership after the fall of the top order. Shahrukh Khan made 37 runs before getting run out while Miller scored 30 off 20 deliveries.

The innings saw a few more handy knocks with Rahul Tewatia scoring 35 runs, and Rashid Khan and Vijay Shankar contributing 18 and 10 runs respectively. In the end, GT could only pile up 147 runs before getting bowled out by RCB in 19.3 overs.

Let’s take a look at the IPL Points Table (Updated) On 5th MAY after RCB vs GT:

IPL Points Table (Updated) after RCB vs GT

The 4-wicket win over Gujarat Titans (GT) propelled RCB to take a leap over MI, GT and PBKS in the IPL Points Table. RCB were earlier seated at the bottom of the points table, but they are now at the 7th spot with 4 wins from 11 matches. Their IPL 2024 run still has some life after they have managed to topple the former IPL champions.

Gujarat Titans (GT), subsequently, slips to the penultimate position in the IPL points table. The Titans also have 4 wins from 11 matches, but their net run rate has gone down after they got a proper beating in just 13.4 overs. Though they too have outside chances to make it to the IPL 2024 playoffs, their net run rate would give them a hard time.

The top four places in the IPL points table are currently held by Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively. CSK is placed fifth followed by Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The bottom three places are with Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians respectively.
