IPL 2021 Auction: Kings XI Punjab new logo and new name, Punjab Kings.

Kings XI Punjab new logo and new name: The Mohali based franchise was in talks to rename its identity from 2021 onwards after the franchise saw a disastrous debacle in the last outing. Kings XI Punjab wanted to change the name and logo and on Tuesday the franchise announced that Kings XI Punjab will now be called “Punjab Kings”.

Initially, the franchise didn’t unveil the new logo of the franchise but on Wednesday, Punjab Kings on Twitter shared a picture of the new logo of the franchise.

Punjab Kings owners Pretty Zinta, Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman, and Karan Paul will head to the much-awaited IPL 2021 auction with the new identity.

The franchise is granted unofficial permission for the new identity while the written notice is yet to be sent by BCCI, although it’s a formality.

Speaking about the new brand identity, team CEO Satish Menon said: “Punjab Kings is a more evolved brand name, and we understand it was a right time for us to move focus on the core brand itself.”

“The change in brand identity is not about changing our brand ethos but celebrating our one-ness as we stand in unit like a family. The new logo honors the liveliness and vibrancy of the brand and provides modern elements, while we stand out from rest of the teams.”

The franchise is yet to win its maiden IPL title while the franchise had reached final once in 2014. The last season for Punjab Kings was more like a roller coaster ride.

KL Rahul led side lost back to back games initially but after the return of Chris Gayle, KXIP went on to win five games on the Trott to keep the playoff campaign alive.

KXIP will head to the IPL 2021 auction with highest purse value (INR 53.20 Crores) and have to fill 9 slots.
