ICC U19 World Cup 2024: India U19 have successfully qualified for the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 semifinal. India U19 defeated Nepal U19 in their second Super Six game and became the first team from Group 1 in the ongoing tournament to officially qualify for the U19 World Cup semifinal.

The 33rd match of the U19 ICC main event was played between India and Nepal which also was the last match of Team India in the Super Six stage of the U19 World Cup. India and Nepal were placed in Group 1 along with Pakistan, New Zealand, Ireland, and Bangladesh. Nepal, Ireland, and New Zealand are now officially out of the race and the competition is between Pakistan and Bangladesh for the second seat.

Pakistan and Bangladesh are scheduled to battle on 3 Feb. Bangladesh have to win the match by a big margin in order to elevate their NRR. Currently, Bangladesh sit 3rd in the points table with 4 points and NRR of +0.384 and Pakistan are second with an NRR of +1.064.

India U19 vs Nepal U19: Match Summary

In the India U19 vs Nepal U19, the former won the flip of the coin and opted to bat first. Adarsh Singh gave a quick start to the team but lost his wicket early. In the 14th over, India lost two back-to-back wickets and looked in trouble. Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas were new batsmen on the crease.

They both charged the counter-attack from both ends. Both scored magnificent centuries individually with a strike rate of around 100 and took absolute control of the game. Following their hundreds, India U19 posted a huge total of 298 total for Nepal.

In the chase, Nepal U19 got a slow but steady start, allowing Indian bowlers to build pressure. Raj Limbani drew the first blood in the 13th over. Saumy Pandey joined the party soon and took 3 wickets within 8 balls. Arshin took the next two wickets in two overs, that made the game for India.

Skipper Dev Khanal fought till the end but that was never going to be enough. Saumy Pandey was too good as he bagged another four-fer and he has scalped 16 wickets now in the tournament.

Durgesh Gupta played a classic cameo towards the end but just to lower the defeat margin. India U19 restricted Nepal U19 under 165 runs and India U19 won the match by 132 runs.
