The Kangaroos carried on with their dominance in the ongoing cycle of the WTC, registering their fourth successive win versus England at the Optus Stadium. This win allowed the home-side to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match ashes series and maintainted their undefeated record in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle with a perfect PCT of 100 percent.
England, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat in six games in this edition of the WTC. Their PCT took a massive hit as it dropped to 36.13 from 43.31. They started off this game, placed sixth in the standings and remained at the same rank despite suffering a significant PCT drop after the defeat in Perth.

Left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc named as the Man-of-the-Match for his exceptional bowling performance
Before left-handed batter Travis Head gained the spotlight with his explosive performance with the bat, the Aussies had already gained control in the Perth Test through the magical bowling display of Mitchell Starc. The left-handed seamer went riot on the first day of the game, dismissing seven England batters which set the tone of the contest.
He then returned in the second innings and added three more sclaps to his name which allowed him to register a ten-wicket haul as the Three Lions were bundled out for 163 in the 2nd innings.
Fast-bowler Brendan Doggett made an impressive Test Cricket debut for Australia, with three scalps of his own, while veteran pacer Scott Boland finished with figures of 4-31. It's worth noting that the Ben Stokes-led side took a lead of 40 runs in the first inning but lost the control of the encounter with questionable shot selection from their batsmen.
The NRMA Insurance Ashes series now moves to Brisbane, where the second match, a pink-ball contest is scheduled to be played at Brisbane's iconic Gabba Cricket Ground from the 4th of December onwards.
