ICC WTC Final: In what has been the latest development as per the reports in the Indian Express, it is learned that young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named in the Indian squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final as as a stand-by player. The final of the Test Championship will take place between India and Australia at the Oval, England from the 7th to the 11th of June.

As per the reports Yashasvi Jaiswal has replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as a standby player in the team and will be soon flying to England. It’s also learned that BCCI has asked him to practise with the red ball. The reason behind him replacing Gaikwad is the CSK opener has informed him that he’s getting married. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal was in terrific form this season in the IPL as he amassed 625 runs in 14 IPL 2023 games with two centuries. Not only this he was in red hot form in the Ranji Trophy game as he scored 404 runs in five games he played.

A source close to BCCI told that Rahul Dravid was named the replacement and he will fly soon to London. Speaking to The Indian Express, he said: 

“He (Jaiswal) will be joining the Indian team as Gaikwad has informed us that he won’t be able to fly due to his marriage. He would be able to join the team post-June 5. (But) Coach Rahul Dravid took a call, asking the selectors to pick a replacement. So, Jaiswal will now fly to London soon.”

Few members of have reached England whereas rest will follow up after the IPL Final, which will take place on 28th May.

Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the schedule for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be announced next month. He said that the itinerary for the event will be revealed during the ICC WTC Final. The development was confirmed by Jay Shah after BCCI’s Special General Meeting (SGM) that took place on Saturday (27th May) at Ahmedabad. 

The Cricket World Cup is slated to take place in India between October 5 and November 1 as per the reports. As of now, 8 teams in India, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan, England, Bangladesh and South Africa have qualified directly for the tournament whereas two teams will join them through Quafliers. 

As per the reports Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot, Mumbai, Trivandrum, Nagpur, Pune are the shortlisted venues. Although there’s no official confirmation, but most likely these will be the venues. Matches likely will happen in 10 venues along with 2 venues for Warm-up games.
