Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead Maharashtra on Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21.



Chennai Super Kings batsman and young opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad is all set to lead his home side Maharashtra in <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/citing-security-reasons-india-denies-travelling-to-pakistan-for-the-upcoming-champions-trophy-matches-are-to-be-shifted-to-dubai/" title="the upcoming" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the upcoming</a> Vijay Hazare Trophy 2020-21, the state association confirmed the news on Saturday.



The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) had announced a strong 20 member <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-aus-australia-announce-their-13-member-squad-for-the-1st-test-in-perth-vs-india-mcsweeney-set-to-open-the-inning/" title="squad for the" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">squad for the</a> domestic ODI tournament on the Twitter handle.



The young opener, stole the limelight during the last IPL season when he smashed back to back half-centuries at the later end of the tournament for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).



To support Gaikwad, Kedar Jadhav, Ankeet Bawane, Naushad Shaikh and Rahul Tripathi have also been named in the squad. The 20 members squad also comprises two wicketkeepers in Vishant More and Nikhil Naik.



The bowling contingent will be led by slow left-arm orthodox spinners Satyajeet Bachhav, Jagdish Zope, the pacers include Ashay Palkar, Monoj Ingle, Pradeep Dadhe and Mukesh Choudhary.



Maharashtra is placed in Elite Group D along with Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Pondicherry and all the games of the Elite Group D will be held in Jaipur.



Maharashtra will play its opener on 21st February while the tournament will begin on 20th February.



The knockout games will begin on March 07 while the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played on 14th march Sunday.

The recent reports from prominent news outlets confirmed that the series will go as per the plans and India will have to field several young cricketers.



<h2>SLvsIND 2nd T20I: 4 Players to debut, SLvsIND 2nd T20I.</h2>



Indian think-tank and Shikhar Dhawan will have to make changes right from the opening combination. Shaw is unavailable for the matches and we might see Ruturaj Gaikwad or Devdutt Padikkal opening the innings with Dhawan.

Both Gaikwad and Padikkal were in good touch in the first half of the Vivo IPL 2021 and amassed good runs for their respective teams. There is a possibility that both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devdutt Padikkal can make their debut as India doesn't have enough firepower in the batting order.



Nitish Rana, who had a horrible ODI debut, could also make his T20I debut tonight. Rana is a spin all-rounder and can do the job for India in absence of Hardik Pandya.



Rana played brilliantly in few initial games for KKR, however, lost his touch midway. He amassed 201 runs in seven outings for KKR and could be a great addition in the T20I playing xi.



Young pacer Chetan Sakariya is also in contention to make his T20I debut tonight against Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I. He is the fifth bowling option for India and can perform well under the guidance of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.



He made his ODI debut in the last ODI against Sri Lanka and scalped two wickets.

Ruturaj Gaikwad slams his third consecutive hundred in Vijay Hazare trophy 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) famed batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has continued his sublime form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. The Maharashtra skipper has struck as many as three consecutive tons in <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/champions-trophy-2025-icc-likely-to-shift-the-tournament-out-of-pakistan-as-indias-participation-remains-uncertain/" title="the tournament" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the tournament</a> recently.?



Gaikwad continued his purple touch in the ongoing VHT as he scored his 3rd century of the tournament. He scored his latest century against Kerala at the Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground in Rajkot.&nbsp;



His team, Maharashtra, got off to a poor start as they lost two quick wickets in just 22 runs. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad stitched a pleasing partnership with Rahul Tripathi to bring his team back on track. Both of them added 195 runs before Tripathi got dismissed by MD Nidheesh.



Maharashtra scored a total of&nbsp; 291/8 in their quota of 50 overs. Gaikwad scored a brilliant 124 from 129 deliveries in <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/pakistan-vs-england-3rd-test-when-and-where-to-watch-the-match-in-india/" title="the match" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the match</a>.



The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener scored his first ton against Madhya Pradesh. He scored 136 runs from 112 deliveries to help his team chase down a total of 329 runs against MP. Maharashtra registered a win by five wickets against Madhya Pradesh in that match.

Ruturaj?s second century came against Chattisgarh. He outclassed the Chattisgarh bowlers with his brilliant batting display. He mustered a massive 54 off 143 balls. His fine ton helps Maharashtra to chase the target 276 runs in 47 overs.&nbsp;



In his three outings in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, Ruturaj Gaikwad has amassed 414 runs at an average of 207.00. He maintained a good 107.81 strike rate in his three centuries.



Maharashtra will now face Uttarakhand in its next match on 12th December in Rajkot.

The Indian team is scheduled to fly to South Africa on December 16th for the three matches Test and ODI series apiece. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the new leader of India?s white-ball squad, the board is yet to announce the ODI squad for the tour.



It has been learnt that Ruturaj Gaikwad has almost confirmed his ticket for the South Africa ODIs. He is continuing his stellar form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy with three back to back tons.



Gaikwad also won the Orange Cap in the recently held IPL 2021 and now has smacked three consecutive centuries for Maharashtra. He scored 136 runs against Madhya Pradesh, an unbeaten 154 against Chattisgarh and 124 runs versus Kerala.&nbsp;



On the other side, seasoned campaigner Shikhar Dhawan has failed to convince the selectors. His scores in the ongoing VHT remained 0, 12, 14 and 18.



Dhawan is no longer a part of India?s T20I squad. Several young players such as Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw and Ruturaj Gaikwad have already replaced him in the shortest format squad. He was even axed from India?s <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/women-t20-world-cup-clash-of-the-titans-the-world-is-set-to-see-a-new-face-as-champions-of-the-womens-t20-world-cup-as-south-africa-women-and-new-zealand-women-emerge-as-finalists/" title="T20 World Cup" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">T20 World Cup</a> 2021 squad due to his poor form.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, three cricketers along with four support staff and one standby player is infected with the dreaded virus on Wednesday.



The three playing members include <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ready-to-seize-that-opportunity-shreyas-iyer-eyes-test-cricket-comeback-for-india-in-border-gavaskar-trophy/" title="Shreyas Iyer" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Shreyas Iyer</a>, Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Pacer Navdeep Saini, who is on standby, has also been tested covid positive in Ahmedabad ahead of the ODI series.



The three matches One Day International Series between India and West Indies is scheduled to start on February 6 in Ahmedabad?s Narendra Modi Stadium.



The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), following the covid outbreak, roped in opener batsman Mayank Agarwal in the Indian ODI squad.



The three covid positive support staff include Massage Therapist Rajeev Kumar, T Dilip (fielding coach) and Security Liaison Officer B Lokesh.



All the infected members have been shifted to a separate floor in the same hotel in which the Indian team is staying and are undergoing their mandatory isolation period.

The BCCI official informed that the cricket board is flexible with the scheduling of <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/border-gavaskar-trophy-2024-when-and-where-to-watch-the-series-in-india/" title="the series" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the series</a> with West Indies. The series can be pushed further by a couple of days if more covid positive cases come up, but, if no more covid cases emerge, the tour will go as per the original schedule.



West Indies squad has also arrived at the Ahmedabad airport on Wednesday. The touring official confirmed that the entire squad has tested negative before their departure and after landing in Ahmedabad.



"We were all negative before we left Barbados. And all negative on our arrival tests at the airport yesterday in Ahmedabad. We are in room isolation on a separate floor to the Indian team as per the protocols," the top-ranked official told Cricbuzz.

"Yes, Shikhar and Shreyas have tested negative for Covid-19 and they have been cleared to train. Ruturaj Gaikwad is still in isolation," the source pointed out.



The entire Indian contingent in Ahmedabad will undergo a training session on Wednesday. Both Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer will join the Indian squad for their lite training.



Both the batsman are currently monitored by BCCI?s medical team. They are highly unlikely to be available for the second ODI match on Wednesday against West Indies.



Navdeep Saini, who was on the standby players list for the ODI series, had also contracted Covid, however, the pacer recently began his training in the nets.
