ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan team receives Indian visas; set to arrive in India on this date

The ICC World Cup 2023 is just two weeks away from now. The tournament will begin from 5th October and the teams have started arriving in India. However, the story with the Pakistan team is quite different. While all the participants got their visas easily, the Babar Azam-led contingent didn’t receive it.

The reports suggested that PCB submitted their visas to the Indian embassy just after the Asia Cup 2023 concluded. However, they didn’t get the clearance because of this they had to change their plans. The Men in Green were to travel to Dubai as a part of a team bonding trip before flying to India for the ICC World Cup 2023.

But delays in visas forced them to forge their plans. Following this Pakistan Cricket Board wrote to ICC. They highlighted the poor treatment of their players and also questioned if BCCI had provided a written guarantee related to providing visas to all participating nations.

However, despite all the fuss, the Pakistan cricket team has now received their Indian visas for the ICC World Cup 2023. They will be travelling to Dubai in the morning on Wednesday (27th September). After a halt there they will be flying to Hyderabad in India on the same date in the evening.

There’s no official confirmation as to why there was a delay in visas for Pakistan. But it can be assumed that political tensions between the two teams might be the reason behind it. It will be for the first time Pakistan will be travelling to India since the T20 World Cup 2016.
