ICC World Cup 2023: The International Cricket Council is all set to approve the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  share of 38.5% (1889 cr) from their annual revenue despite intervention from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as per the reports in PTI.

As per the latest revenue model by ICC, BCCI will receive a share of 38.50% in the upcoming Finance Model for 2024-2027 whereas Pakistan will get just a share of 5.75% in the ICC revenue distribution. The revenue distribution didn’t go well with PCB as they raised quite a few questions.

PCB touted it as unfair revenue distribution and said that they should get more and also questioned why is India getting the highest revenue share. But despite many interventions from Pakistan’s cricket body, ICC is stern on its stand.

The reports from the PTI also suggested that ICC will give nod ahead to India during their annual meeting, slated to take place in Durban. The officials said that percentages are calculated based on the contribution to the game through cricket (rankings), performance (at ICC events) and commercial (media rights revenues and viewership).

“Look, if one tries to go by percentages, the revenue distribution might look unfair with India getting 38.5 percent and ECB getting 6.89 and Cricket Australia receiving 6.25 percent. One should look at from the quantum of revenue angle.

“The percentages are calculated based on the contribution to the game through cricket (rankings), performance (at ICC events) and commercial (media rights revenues and viewership), so it’s based on what they are contributing to the overall health of the game.”
