The much anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 is around three months away from now. The biggest carnival in International cricket has kept everyone on their toes. The International Cricket Council (ICC) along with the Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) announced the official schedule of the tournament, which will take place in India for the first time since 2011.

The ICC World Cup 2023 will be played from 5th October. A total of 48 matches will take place and 10 teams will fight for the title. The final of the tournament will be played on 19th November and with teams risking losses for win these days, it’ll be a great contest to watch.

The Indian team will be one of the favourites heading into the tournament. They will have an added advantage as they will be playing at home. It’ll be a great opportunity for the Rohit Sharma-led side to end their ICC Trophy drought and win their first-ever title since 2013. They will open their campaign against Australia in 8th October in Chennai.

Going into the tournament there will be quite a few key players for India. The big names in Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and other needs to step up if India needs to fancy their chances of winning. BCCI have shortlisted 20 players for the tournament and 15 among them will make it into the squad.

But according to Chris Gayle, two games will hold key for India in the ICC World Cup 2023. As per the Universe Boss Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav will be the two players that will play key roles for the team in the tournament. Speaking to the Times of India, he revealed the two key players.

Jasprit Bumrah notably, has been out of the action since September 2022 due to injury and has missed major tournaments. He is likely to return to the team during the Asia Cup and with the kind of calibre he has with him, he will no doubt be an important aspect of the team.

Suryakumar Yadav on the other hand has been part of the team for a while. He has played some great innings for the team and his ability to change the game within the span of 1 overs makes him unique. It’s likely that he will be there in the team and is expected to play a huge role.
