RCB Women

RCB Women: The progressive steps towards the development of Women’s cricket by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have paid off. The ongoing Women Premier League (WPL) has been a massive success and has given immense entertainment to fans and more so has robust the female cricket in India.

Much like what IPL did to Indian men’s cricket, the WPL is already following the same path. The league has unleashed some hidden talents and has provided them with a big platform to make the world go gaga with their talent and announce their arrival at the big stage. The league so far has produced some staggering nail-bitters that have gone down the wire and have kept almost every spectator on their toes.

While the WPL 2023 has given immense joy to almost everyone, there has been no light at the end of the big tunnel for the Royal Challengers (RCB) Women. Ahead of the league, they were one of the favourites to win the tournament but it has been a torrid run for them in the first-ever edition of the league.

Despite having a star-studded side, they failed to set the stage on fire in the tournament and lost five consecutive games, which more so dented their chances to qualify for the playoffs. Their five losses on the trot saw them receiving a lot of skewering.

The women in red and black started their campaign with a 60-run loss against Delhi Capitals Women. A similar kind of story was on the offer when they faced Mumbai Indians women, who thrashed them by 9 wickets. They came under immense pressure as bagged an 11-run loss against Gujarat Giants to mark their third consecutive loss.

While many expected them to stage a comeback after three games, things got even worse for them as they lost two more games against UP warriorz and Delhi Capitals Women. But after five consecutive losses, they rejuvenated themselves and finally won a game.

They pounded UP warriorz by 5 wickets to mark their first win of the season. But things don’t look good for them as they are reeling last on the points table and qualifying for the playoffs seems an uphill task for them.
