CSK skipper MS Dhoni arrives in Surat to begin his IPL 2022 Preparation
CSK skipper MS Dhoni arrives in Surat to begin his IPL 2022 Preparation: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have begun their preparation for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the franchise has organised a training camp in Gujarat. In the buildup for the Tata IPL 2022, CSK will be undergoing a pre-tournament camp to provide its players with some crucial match practice.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni has arrived in Surat, Gujarat, where the training camp has been organised. He was alongside CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and a couple of other support staff members in Surat.
The overseas support staff of the reigning champions, including head coach Stephen Fleming, will join the squad on March 12.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan informed that the franchise would begin its pre-season camp on March 8.
He further explained the rationale behind choosing Gujarat?s Surat as the training base for the team. Gujarat shares its land borders with Maharashtra and to get acclimatised to the clay-based wickets, the franchise opted to shift its base in Surat.

?With the Chennai pitch clay-based, we decided to practise on wickets that will be similar to those in Mumbai and Pune. Also, the travel will be easy,? Viswanathan told ESPNcricinfo.
The entire Tata IPL 2022 is scheduled to take place in Maharashtra. As many as 70 out of 74 matches in the IPL 2022 will be held across four venues in Maharashtra which includes - Wankhede Stadium, MCA International Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
The lucrative Indian T20 tournament is set to kickstart on March 26th and the final is planned to be held on May 29th.
Meanwhile, CSK have sustained a blow with their premier pacer getting injured. CSK?s INR 14 Crores pick, Deepak Chahar has sustained a right quadriceps injury and is likely to miss a majority portion of the Tata IPL 2022.
As per the experts, Chahar?s injury will at least take the first three weeks of the IPL 2022 to heal, if not more.
