Chennai Super Kings (CSK) New Captain in IPL 2022: We are just halfway mark through the year 2022 and yet it seems a lot has happened in the world of cricket. The elite T20 tournament of cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been the biggest highlight until now as the preparations for the forthcoming edition have gotten underway.

In what comes as a shocking development for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, decorated captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is reportedly stepping down from his leadership role ahead of the fifteenth edition of the league.

The CSK fans would be shocked to hear the development. Though the fans would definitely have expected the captaincy change to happen, but not this early. As they say – Thala Fans – would certainly enjoy seeing their favourite captain and batsman, MS Dhoni, entering the stadium leading the yellow brigade for one last season in 2022.

As soon as the reports came from prominent news outlets, it caused havoc amongst the CSK supporters across social media platforms. The fans have shown their reluctance in accepting the development with comments, ‘no chance.’

We already know by now, MS Dhoni keeps his personal life secret and takes the majority of his career decision away from the media. Don’t be surprised if the ‘Captain Cool’ once again stuns the entire cricketing world with his abrupt decision to relinquish leadership.

It must be noted that MS Dhoni has vowed to play his final T20 match in front of the Chepauk crowd in Chennai. After CSK’s IPL 2021 win, Dhoni openly discussed his retirement plans and asserted that his final IPL game would come in his home ground.

The upcoming Tata IPL 2022 would be MS Dhoni’s final assignment as the cricketer, however, he can return to the field of cricket in different capacities in future, the chances of which are minimalist.

As of now, Chennai doesn’t possess an already acclaimed leader in the team and Ravindra Jadeja is the only option left with them. The all-rounder will perform duties of the team under the shadow of MS Dhoni in the IPL 2022, which will further make him a better captaincy option for the franchise in future.
