Big Blow for MI in IPL 2023, Pacer Jhye Richardson doubtful after suffering hamstring injury, Ruled out of INDvsAUS ODI series – Reports.

Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the forthcoming three-match ODI series between India and Australia after suffering a hamstring injury. Moreover, the pacer is also doubtful for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

As per the reports, Richardson aggravated his hamstring injury which he initially picked up during this year’s Big Bash League (BBL) season playing for Perth Scorchers. Following the injury, the pacer has also been sidelined for the Marsh Cup final which will be held between Western Australia and South Australia on 10th March.

After sustaining the injury on January 4, Jhye Richardson was sidelined for the remainder of the Perth Scorcher’s campaign in the BBL 2022-23. He also didn’t take part in the Marsh Cup. Despite his absence from the cricket field, the pacer managed to bag a place for himself in the 16-men Australian squad travelling to India for the three-match ODI series.

The INDvsAUS three games ODI series will begin on March 17 at Wankhede Stadium. The two sides will then travel to Vishakapatnam and Chennai for the last two games of the leg, which will be the conclusion of the Australia tour of India 2023.

Australia’s ODI Squad: Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Sean Abbott, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Steve Smith, David Warner, Adam Zampa

Big Blow for MI after Jhye Richardson’s injury

Jhye Richardson’s injury further creates a hole in Mumbai Indians’ (MI) campaign in the upcoming IPL 2023. Having already lost pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the entire season, MI can’t bear any more losses in its bowling department.

The Australian pacer was picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) from the auction table for his base price of INR 1.5 Crores.

Interestingly, Richardson took home a massive contract of INR 14 Crores from Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2021, however, his outing remained forgettable in the three games he played for the franchise. The speedster scalped three wickets in as many matches. PBKS eventually released him from the squad and he was recently picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) from the IPL 2023 Auction table.
