IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Big 3 Players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might release ahead of IPL 2022

IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had underwhelming performances in the IPL 2020 and were the first team to get knocked out of the tournament. Netizens and cricketing pundits blamed the CSK management for not releasing the ageing players from the squad, however, MS Dhoni had other intentions.

MS Dhoni backed the same set of players in the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with some tweaks here and there and went on to win his fourth title for CSK, giving a befitting reply to the critics.

However, with mega auction 2022 lined up ahead, the franchise will now look to make a formidable team that can easily play for at least three years. The purse constraints will be there and each franchise will have to leave out players forcefully.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has several names in its squad that are on the extremely wrong side of their 30s and will be released by the franchise. This very article will target the big 3 players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might release ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Suresh Raina:

Famously known as “Chinna Thala”, Suresh Raina has been the lifeline of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) along with MS Dhoni. Both the players were the most sought after players during IPL 2018-19 and before, however, their stocks have declined year after year since then.

After getting ignored by the Indian selectors for national duties, Raina’s performance has seen a huge dip. He has been under scrutiny and has not been able to replicate his old form. Though he is the leading run-scorer for CSK in the IPL, Raina hasn’t been anywhere close to his best in the last few years.

In the recent IPL 2021, he just managed to score 160 runs from 12 innings and was benched in the later stages of the tournament.

Dwayne Bravo:

When it comes to forming a strong core for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dwayne Bravo’s name always comes there. The Caribbean all-rounder has been associated with the Chennai based franchise for a long and has time and again proved his worth in gold.

Bravo has been brilliant with his bowling skills, especially in the slog overs. He uses his wide experience and does all the tricks with the ball in death overs. However, his batting abilities have consistently disappointed.

CSK is highly unlikely to retain Dwayne Bravo in the coming auction. Furthermore, his retirement from international cricket will force the officials to think several times before placing a bid for him in the auctions.

Ambati Rayudu:

Ambati Rayudu has played for Mumbai Indians (MI) for almost a decade before he joined MS Dhoni spearheaded franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He joined the yellow army back in 2018 and started his new role with a bang.

In just his opening season with CSK, Rayudu slammed a massive 602 runs and formed himself as one of the most important players for the franchise. However, his stocks in the shortest format have declined since then.

In the last IPL, the Andra batsman managed to score mere 257 runs from 16 matches at an average of 28.55. Moreover, Rayudu is already 36 years old and the age factor will surely come into play as the franchise tends to go more behind young guns who can easily serve the franchise for at least three coming years.

The experts believe that Rayudu is highly unlikely to get a place in the team at first place, though, he can be purchased if CSK has some funds left.
