Once again Bangladesh was under the dark clouds of their poor batting show in Lahore. The openers, despite performing so well in their previous game, got out cheaply which put the middle-order under pressure. Skipper Shakib al Hasan scored a fine half-century followed by wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim’s 64-run knock to take Bangladesh’s total to 193 runs before getting bowled out by Pakistan in 38.4 overs.
Not to take anything away from the Pakistani bowlers, especially the pacers, who broke the back of Bangladesh’s batting order. Speedster Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah accounted for seven wickets together while Shaheen Afridi, Iftikhar Ahmed and Faheem Ashraf scalped one apiece.
The chase was always going to be easy for Pakistan with their power-packed batting lineup, but Bangladesh managed to give a couple of blows to the opposition before they could reach the target.
Mohammed Rizwan (63* runs) and Imam ul Haq (78 runs) got some runs under their belt and took their side to an easy victory against Bangladesh. With the win, Pakistan fetched two crucial match points and jumped to the top of the Asia Cup 2023 Points Table, Super 4s.
