Virat Kohli Rested to Manage his Workload:

Considering the increased workload and the fact that Virat has been on the road for a very long time, the BCCI has decided to rest him so that India’s best batter can be in the right frame of mind on the 23rd of October 2022 in the Melbourne Cricket Stadium against Pakistan. With that being said, the number 3 spot then gets vacated for Shreyas Iyer. Iyer is expected to fill in for Virat as he has previously done the same with immense success. Or it can be Suryakumar Yadav too.

One of the special sources of Hindustan Times got this update, ”He [Kohli] has played back-to-back matches. Will have to be careful about his workload. With the T20 World Cup starting later this month, we want Virat to be fresh mentally and physically. He has featured regularly for India in T20I matches since the Asia Cup and with the series already won, it’s better to give him a breather and someone else can be handed a game ahead of him”.

He played 2 ODIs in Zimbabwe, 3 T20Is in the Asia Cup, and 5 T20Is in the recent home series against Australia and South Africa. KL took his time to get into the groove but once he was in, he went all guns blazing. In the last 6 innings, KL has managed to score 4, 50+ scores. His consecutive 50s in the series against South Africa is a sign of a player regaining his confidence and form.
