IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap Updated on 3rd May after GT vs DC

IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) sealed their third victory of the season as they outplayed defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by 5 runs.

Not many would have thought that the pitch at the world’s biggest cricket stadium will unfold as a slower one as GT hosted DC. In fact, Nick Knight, prior to the game, accessed the surface to be a flat deck with a par score of 180. However, as it turns out, the score of 130 runs was far-fetched for Gujarat Titans (GT), who lost the fixture by five runs.

After posting the total of 130 runs, DC kept things tight and didn’t let Gujarat get carried away with the runs. Wriddhiman Saha was out for a duck, then Shubman Gill was removed by Anrich Nortje. Ishant Sharma bowled a brilliant knuckle ball to deceive Vijay Shankar. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav removed David Miller for a duck to keep the game alive.

While it looked dark and gloomy for Gujarat Titans, skipper Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar did the rescue work. The two batters added 60 runs to the score, but as it turn out, they had eaten too many deliveries to score those runs. Eventually, Abhinav Manohar was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed and that brought Rahul Tewatia to the middle.

Tewatia heated up things with his three consecutive sixes in the penultimate over and dragged GT back into the chase, but the day wasn’t to be his. He was dismissed in the final over and Gujarat fell five runs shy to reach the total.

Earlier in the game, Delhi saw wickets tumbling as Mohammad Shami turns up with his searing spell in the powerplay. Shami broke the back of Delhi’s batting unit and completed his four-over spell by scalping four wickets and conceding mere 11 runs.

Phil Salt was out for a duck, Warner couldn’t contribute much as he was run out. Priyam Garg scored 10 runs, Rilee Rossouw was dismissed four eight and Manish Pandey returned after opening his account.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel and Aman Khan played a little cameo to bring back DC’s innings to track. While Patel scored 27 runs, Aman Khan completed his half-century. In the end, Ripal Patel quickfire 13-ball 23 to take DC’s total to 130 runs.
