Virat Kohli's IPL retirement on the boards for RCB
As reported by RevSportz, Virat Kohli has secured a brand contract that was set to be signed ahead of the upcoming IPL season. This has raised some concerns over his plan with the RCB franchise.
Ever since the inauguration of IPL back in 2008, RCB has been unstoppable with their seasoned batter, Virat Kohli. He led his dream to come true in IPL 2025 when RCB won their maiden IPL title.
Virat, on a personal level, holds the record for having amassed 8000+ runs in the history of the IPl, which is the highest amount of runs scored by a player for one franchise. He also holds the record of having scored the highest runs in a single edition of the IPL.
Virat Kohli dismisses contract renewal ahead of IPL season
With rising doubts over Virat Kohli's stay in the IPl, since the batter has kept a very low profile ever since his Test retirement. Reports suggest that his contract renewal sidelining is only adding to his confusion.
"Last time before the mega-auction, I got the lead that before the start of the next season of the IPL (that is in 2026), Virat Kohli would have to renew a contract in association with a brand. But the news is, he has not renewed his contract. Now the speculation is that Virat wants the RCB franchise to plan their way ahead without using his face," reported Rohit Juglan.
Though nothing can be ascertained before any top official confirms such claims of Kohli's retirement. The probability lies with Virat planning for his exit anytime soon in the IPL.
Former Indian cricketer clears the air on Kohli's RCB contract
The non-renewal of the commercial contract doesn't mean that Virat Kohli is all set to part ways with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has revealed that his future with RCB has nothing to do with the snub of this contract.
Some reports have also claimed that RCB could be going through a change in ownership in the upcoming months. This might also be supposed as a reason why Kohli did not consider renewal of his contract. It can also be seen that he might be negotiating with the deal later to sign for a more suitable agreement.
