Temba Bavuma back after injury as South Africa name 15-man squad for Test series against India

The South Africa Cricket Team on Monday (October 27) announced the 15-man squad for Test series against the Indian Cricket Team. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the two-match test series, which will also be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.

The India vs South Africa Test series will begin on 14th November at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After that, the second match will be played on 22nd November in Guwahati. This will be the second series for the Proteas in this ICC WTC cycle. 

Temba Bavuma will lead South Africa in the Test series against India. The batter will be making his comeback to the team after a long injury, which saw him missing the Test series against Pakistan. He would be keen to make an impact and help his team script history. 

In what was a shocking call, South Africa dropped David Bedingham, who has been doing well with the bat in Tests. Also, Zubayr Hamza, who has been under fire for his performances has retained his place in the team, who won the last edition of the ICC WTC. 

The batting department features openers in Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton and middle and lower-order batters in Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, captain Bavuma, Tristan Stubbs and keeper Kyle Verreynne. Wiaan Mulder, Corbin Bosch are the two pace-bowling all-rounders. 

The South Africa spin department features Keshav Maharaj Simon Harmer and Senuran Muthusamy. Kagiso Rabada will be leading the pace bowling department and will share the new ball duties with Marco Jansen
