Tata IPL 2023 likely to start in March, IPL 2023 Auction scheduled in December: As we gear up for the showpiece ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, here is an interesting development for cricket fans as the sixteenth edition of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to begin in March 2023. The reports also confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also pondering conducting the mini auctions for IPL 2023 this year itself.

The official schedule of the Tata IPL 2023 is yet to be revealed by the governing council, however, several reports have confirmed the tentative phases for the IPL 2023 mini-auction and its start.

A report in Cricbuzz indicated that the sixteenth season of the IPL is likely to kickstart in the fourth week of March (2023) while the mini auctions for the tournament will be held in mid-December, with December 16 being the probable date.

“Dates for the league are still not known but it is likely to start in the fourth week of March with the home and away format restored,” Cricbuzz report read.  

The reports have emerged after several IPL franchise owners received a preliminary hint from the IPL administrations regarding the tentative scheduling.

In another development in the IPL 2023 horizon, the total purse value of each franchise has been elevated to INR 95 Crores. The IPL teams can enter the auction ring with a minimum purse value of INR 5 Crores for the mini-auction 2023.

The last edition of the cash-rich Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) was a superhit event with ten teams participating. The addition of two new teams – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – paid heavy dividends to the BCCI. 

Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, won the IPL 2022 title in its maiden season, defeating inaugural champions Rajasthan Royal in the finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
