SRH coach Simon Katich resigns immediately after auction ahead of the IPL 2022: The Sun group owned Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has again hipped into the limelight for all the wrong reasons. This time the franchise is in trouble after assistant coach Simon Katich has resigned from his role ahead of the Tata IPL 2022.

As per the reports Katich is unhappy with SRH’s hefty purchases in the recently concluded IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The former Australian batsman resigned due to the fact that the pre-auction strategy wasn’t followed by the franchise during the auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad coaching group headed by Tom Moody roped in Simon Katich after the completion of the IPL 2021, for his services in the IPL 2022, but before the season could actually begin, Katich has decided to part ways with the franchise.

It has been reported that Katich is baffled by SRH’s strategy to spend INR 10.75 Crores on Nicholas Pooran, along with Washington Sundar (INR 8.75 Crores) and Rahul Tripathi (INR 8.5 Crores).

However, the SRH management has informed that Simon Katich cited family issues for his resignation.

“He would have been needed for two and half to three months here, including for the pre-IPL camps and he felt it was too long to be inside a controlled bio-bubble. He has also mentioned about family issues and we have agreed to release him,” a franchise spokesman told Cricbuzz on Friday (Februay 18). “We will be announcing a replacement soon.”

The recent past hasn’t been memorable for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The franchise was embroiled in a controversy after they sacked Australian cricketer David Warner from the captaincy. SRH then dumped Warner from the playing11 without giving explaining proper grounds for their actions.

SRH then appointed Kiwi batsman Kane Williamson as the skipper of the side. Williamson is set to take the charge of the franchise in the upcoming IPL 2022 as well.
