As more reports emerge of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, it is said that he is left disappointed after the BCCI panel members and officials have asked him to vacate the seat of the BCCI President as his tenure comes to an end. Ganguly had been the President of the BCCI since 2019 and has done a decent job since his appointment. In his tenure, the Indian cricket team reached new heights in Test cricket after playing the first-ever WTC final. Here is a look at what has left Ganguly disappointed:

Roger Binny likely to be Appointed to Replace Sourav Ganguly:

One of the greatest India captains, Sourav Ganguly’s period as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President is all set to end with the 1983 World Cup-winning cricketer and highest wicket-taker of that tournament, Roger Binny set to step in as the President. However, the former Bengal star’s adieu from the BCCI was not all fun and games.

Ganguly did not suggest the name of the former fast-bowler, Binny, the most-likely incoming president, as is the practice over the years at the BCCI. “He looked upset, disappointed, and dejected,” claimed a few BCCI officials who were present during the meeting. Ganguly was the last one who left the office after the meeting ended.

Sourav Ganguly was Offered the Post of IPL Chairman:

Sourav Ganguly was offered the post of the “Chairman of the IPL”. But this position is lower than the “President of the BCCI” in order of precedence and hence Ganguly has all the right in the world to stay a bit sour regarding what has gone through. Ganguly, a true superstar, a man of immense face value endorses several brands as an individual. The board was not pleased by the same. At times some brands that Ganguly endorses are conflicting or rivals of the ones that the BCCI as an organization endorses. A conflict of interest, which may lead to loss of sponsors is possible due to the same.

Rajeev Shukla, who has been an integral part of the BCCI gave this interview to one of the top media outlets saying, “Roger Binny has filed nomination for president’s post, myself for the vice-president’s post, Jay Shah for secretary, Ashish Shelar for treasurer and Devajit Saikia has filed nomination for joint secretary’s post. Arun Dhumal will head the IPL governing council and Abhishek Dalmiya will be part of that council. Khairul Jamal (Mamun) Majumdar will be part of the Apex council. As of now, these are the nominations and all are unopposed.”
