The opening day of this Test has been thoroughly dominated by Pakistan! A brilliant show with both ball and bat from them and that has propelled them into a commanding position. After Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat, they were rocked early. Abrar Ahmed shone with the ball as well and finished with a 4-fer. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 166 within two sessions.
In reply, Pakistan lost Imam early but after that, it was a solid show from Shafique and Masood. Sri Lanka missed some chances though. They didn’t take a review for lbw against Masood and that saved him and Shafique was dropped by Jayasuriya off his own bowling. Both of them kept finding the boundaries regularly. The visitors only trail by 21 runs on the Stumps of Day 1.
SL vs PAK Day 2 Overview
On Day 2, the morning session only allowed 10 overs of play, and rain intervened. Shafique and Babar both displayed a strong game and gave Pakistan the lead. Pakistan will be eager to maintain their bazball-type strategy since the weather forecast for tomorrow does not appear to be favorable. Shafique is very close to a century, while Babar has so far played some elegant shots in his brief stay.
However, there is still a lot of time left in this match, as Pakistan has a dominating lead with 8 wickets remaining. They are in terrific shape as they bowled out Sri Lanka in only two sessions and have scored more than 4.50 runs per over.

As the weather websites show, there are high chances of rain for Day 3 which would affect the match. A 50+% chance of rain is predicted in the morning hours and drops to 20% at mid-noon and in the evening. It hopefully ain’t going to eat up the complete day and we can watch some action. The Temperature in the morning is expected to be around 28° C and stay around 30°C for the day.
